This WARNING symbol indi cates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. This CAUTION symbol indicate s a potentially hazardous situation, which if not a voided, may result damage to the product. This symbol advises the user that the terminal(s) so marked must not be connected to a circuit point at which the voltage with respect to earth gr ound exceeds (in this case) 500 VAC or VDC. This symbol adjacent to one or mor e terminals identifies them as being associated with ranges that may, in normal use, be subjected to p articularly hazardous voltages. For maximu m safety, the meter and its test leads should not be handled when these terminals are energized. This symbol indicates that a device is protected throughout by do uble insulation or reinforced insulation.Secure with the screw. WARNING: To avoid elect ric shock, do not operate the meter u ntil the battery door is in place and fast ened securely. NOTE: If your meter does not work properly, check the f uses and batteries to make sure that they are still good and tha t they are properl y inserted. Change to a higher range. NOTE: On some low AC and DC v oltage ranges, with the test leads n ot connected to a device, the display may show a random, cha nging reading.http://globewheelers.com/userfiles/canon-ip4300-pixma-manual.xml

This is normal and is caused by the hi gh-input sensitivity. The re ading will stabilize and give a proper measur ement when connected to a circuit. DC VOL T AGE ME ASUREMENTS CAUTION: Do not measure DC voltages if a motor on the circ uit is being switched ON or OFF. Larg e voltage surges ma y occur that can damage the meter. 1. Set the function switch to the hig hest V DC position. 2. Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack. Insert the red test lead banana plu g into the positive (V) jack. 3. Touch the black test probe tip to t he negative side of the circuit. Touch the red test probe tip to th e positive side of the circuit. 4. Read the voltage in the display. R eset the function switch to successive ly lower V DC positions to obtain a higher resoluti on reading. The display will indicate the proper deci mal point and value. If the polarity is reversed, the displa y will show (-) minus before the value. The probe tips may not be lo ng enough to contact the live p arts inside some 240V outlets for appliances because the contacts ar e recessed deep in the outlets. As a result, the reading ma y show 0 volts when the outlet actually has voltage on it. Make sure the probe tips are touching the metal conta cts inside the outlet before assuming that no voltage is present. CAUTION: Do not measure AC v oltages if a motor on the c ircuit is being switched ON or OFF. Larg e voltage surges ma y occur that can damage the meter. 1. Set the function switch to the hig hest V AC position. 2. Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack. Insert red test lead banana plug i nto the positive (V) jack. 3. Touch the black test probe tip to t he negative side of the circuit. Touch the red test probe tip to the positive side of the circuit. 4. Read the voltage in the displa y. Reset the function switch to successively lower V AC pos itions to obtain a higher resolution readin g.

The display will indicate the proper decimal point and value. Touch the red test probe tip to th e positive side of the circuit. 6. Apply power to the circuit. 7. Read the current in the display. For mA D C measurements, reset the function switch to successively lower mA DC positions to obtain a higher resolution reading. The display will indicate the proper d ecimal point and value. The display wil l indicate the proper decimal point and value. If th e circuit is open, the display will indicate “1”. Reverse voltage will indicate “ I ”. S horted devices will indicate near 0mV. Shorted devices will indicate near 0mV and an open device will indicate “ I ” in both polarities. BATTERY TEST 1. Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative COM ja ck and the red test lead banana plug into the positive V jack. 2. It works well. Be sure to remove the batteries between uses. Corroded batteries caused me to replace the first one I bought. The detector had been stored. I was unable to refurbish the one with corroded batteries. It can test voltage without having to put the tip inside anything. It will beep to tell you that there is voltage in that area. If there is done, it will remain silent. Usually, I have a hot switch nearby that I test each time, then I test the switch that I'm working on. I feel more secure that way. Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2017 No way to turn off the product, so after awhile the battery drains. You have to test it on a live wire each time just to know that it is working correctly. Update: Product stopped working after a week. Must have gotten a lemon.
